How 'bout Texas - Part 1
How ‘bout Texas? I live here and I love it. I moved from California quite a few years ago and haven’t looked back. The State of Texas is considered a state of mind. You either love it or hate it, there generally isn’t any in between.
When we moved here, I couldn’t get over how people would just strike up a conversation with complete strangers in a line at the grocery store, bank, post office, you name it. Their sincere friendliness astounded me at times, but I soon got into the spirit of Texas and now I’m one of them. You know, one those people that will strike up a conversation with strangers anywhere. All you have to do is give me an opportunity and I’ll just jump right in there and say "Howdy" or maybe even tell you about my grandson.
All too often, the State of Texas gets a bad rap from people that don’t understand the state or its people. As a whole, Texans are very courteous and hospitable (I will admit I have met a few jerks along the way, but surely not Texas born and bred). I’ve travel through most of theses United States and have found it to be true, that Texas is one of the friendliest states in the Union.
Quite often Texans are referred to or labeled as braggadocios people, and I would be the first to admit it. However, Texans have a lot to brag about. We take pride in our state, towns, churches, communities, and our families. Just look at our road signs and media campaigns about littering – Don’t Mess With Texas! –and they mean it too, we are proud to called Texans. Our cities and countryside have a lot to offer and in the next few installments of my blog, I'll try to scratch the surface of what makes Texas so appealing to so many.
Please come back and visit next week for How 'bout Texas - Part II and I’ll hit upon the just how diverse the State of Texas has become.
